CR beat Police in a nail-biter

The Ceylonese Rugby and Football Club secured a nail-biting 17-13 win over the Police Sports Club in an Inter-Club Rugby League tournament encounter at Longdon Place this evening.
Police put over an early penalty to kick-start the proceedings however failed to penetrate the CR defence during the remainder of the opening half.
With a Janindu Dislhan converted try, the Reds led 07-03 at lemons.
With heavy rains coming down on the CR’s famous turf, both sets of players struggled to grip the ball which resulted in multiple stoppages.
With a goal and a penalty, the CR extended its lead while Police could only muster two unconverted tries in the latter half of the battle.
The win helped the Reds secured the second place in the Points table behind Havelocks Sports Club.
Meanwhile, Champions Kandy SC will take on Sri Lanka Air Force in the final encounter of the week in Nittawela tomorrow.
