Presidential Candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapaksa says he will reduce the levies imposed on water and electricity tariffs if he emerges victorious at the upcoming Presidential Election.

Speaking at a rally in Polonnaruwa, Gotabaya Rajapaksa said concession will be granted for children and expectant mothers.

Rajapaksa said his faction has decided to dole out a monthly-food pack for labourers, elders, the sick and those living below the poverty line.

He also pledged to resolve the unemployment issue.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa added his aim is to alleviate people from poverty by granting appointments to low-income earners.

He said there are nearly 100,000 vacancies at State institutions, health facilities, schools and at local government bodies in the country.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa added that appointments will be given to every single family that is living below the poverty line.
