Malinga named T20 captain for Windies series

Veteran Pacer Lasith Malinga has been named to captain Sri Lanka against West Indies in the upcoming T20 series.

The decision was revealed during a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday.

Lasith Malinga attended the official media briefing for the series against West Indies as T20 Captain.

Speaking at the briefing Malinga expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to play in Sri Lanka and called for maximum support.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Cricket said the T20 squad will be announced after the completion of the 2nd ODI against the Windies.

The Windies squad arrived in the country last week to play three One Day Internationals and two Twenty20s.

The opening ODI of the series is slated to get underway on Saturday at the SSC grounds in Colombo.

The second ODI is scheduled to get underway on the 26th of February in Hambantota while the third ODI is set to get underway at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy on the 1st of March.

Meanwhile, the Windies will take on the Sri Lanka Board President’s XI in a tour game today.
