President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has informed Ministers to submit their views and opinions on the report compiled by the committee appointed to review the Millennium Challenge Corporation agreement.
Co-Cabinet Media Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena revealed the President’s directives during this morning’s Cabinet media briefing.
The report was presented to the Head of State when the Cabinet of Ministers met under the Patronage of President Rajapaksa at the Office of the President yesterday.
Speaking this morning at the Cabinet media briefing Minister Bandula Gunawardena said it is the government’s stance that any agreements that are contrary to Constitution and national security will not be signed.
He however stressed that the agreement continues to be reviewed as international relations could not be dismissed lightly, adding that the government must act with responsibility where bilateral ties with other countries and safety and security of Sri Lanka are concerned.
