Rangana Herath bids adieu to international cricket

England handed an embarrassing 211-run defeat to Sri Lanka in a one-sided first Test played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

The 211-run defeat also marked the end of an illustrious career of one of Sri Lanka all-time greats.

40-year old Rangana Herath today bid adieu to his 19-year Test career.

Herath finished his 93-match career picking up 433 wickets and staking claim in the all-time Test wicket takers’ list. He finished eighth in the all-time wicket-takers’ table.

He also scored 1699 Test runs during his stint in the national team.

An emotional Rangana Herath said he is now ready for his next stage in life.
