The National Convention of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is due to get underway tomorrow.

The Convention will be worked off at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium from 3pm tomorrow.

The naming of the Presidential candidate of the SLPP and the appointment of Leader of the Opposition MP Mahinda Rajapaksa as the leader of the party is due to take place during the convention tomorrow.

Meanwhile the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara said the party will not be attending the convention of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna that is scheduled to be worked off tomorrow.

Speaking to NewsRadio MP Jayasekara said if any member of the SLFP decides to attend the convention despite the party’s decision, it would be considered as an attempt to gain personal agendas.

The Parliamentarian noted the decision to boycott the convention was reached during a meeting held with the President, taking into consideration the ongoing talks between the SLFP and the SLPP.

MP Jayasekara meanwhile criticised the move by the SLPP to send out individual invitations to members of the SLFP.
