Sri Lanka names squad for the Youth World Cup

The 15-member Sri Lanka squad for the Under-19 Youth Cricket World Cup to be held in South Africa, has been announced.

Nipun Dananjaya will lead Sri Lanka at the Youth Cricket World Cup later this month.

Sri Lanka Cricket in a statement said the Minister of Sports has approved the 15-member squad for the Youth World Cup.

The Under-19 Youth Cricket World Cup is scheduled to be held from 17th of January to 09th of February.

Hosts South Africa will take on Afghanistan in Kimberley on the 17th to kick-start the tournament.

Sri Lanka will take on India on the 19th of January in Bloemfontein to commence its World Cup campaign.

Sri Lanka is pooled with India, New Zealand and Japan in the first round.

India won the last Youth World Cup in 2018 after beating Australia in the finals in New Zealand.

Sri Lanka finished as runner-up for the only time in the history of the tournament in 2000.
