The 16-member Sri Lanka squad led by Angelo Mathews will leave for Dubai tonight, for the 2018 Asia Cup in the UAE.
The Lankans will kick-start the tournament against Bangladesh on Saturday.
Fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who last played for Sri Lanka a year ago, has also been named in the touring party.
Yesterday, Wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella, who was among five standby players, replaced Dinesh Chandimal in the 16-member squad.
Sri Lanka Cricket in statement said, Test Captain Chandimal has been ruled out of tour after failing to recover from a hairline fracture he sustained on his right hand during the recently-concluded domestic T20 tournament.
SLC said Chandimal failed to recover in time to be part of the touring party.
Akila Dananjaya is also set to miss at least the first two games of the Asia Cup as he awaits the birth of his first child.
Dickwella was dropped for the one-off T20 against South Africa at home last month when Chandimal returned from the ICC-imposed suspension. Dickwella’s omission had in fact come as a surprise, having been one of the few Sri Lankan batsmen to consistently trouble South Africa’s bowlers in the series. He opened the innings throughout the ODIs, scoring 158 runs at an average of 31.60 and a strike rate of 82.72.
Sri Lanka’s second game of the tournament will be against Afghanistan on Monday.
