Travel ban on Embassy employee extended

The travel ban that was imposed on the female employee attached to the Switzerland Embassy in Colombo, who was allegedly abducted and threatened by unknown persons last month, has been extended till Thursday, the 12th of December.
The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.
The Criminal Investigations Department today informed Court that a statement was recorded from the employee, for almost nine hours yesterday.
The CID has said another statement is due to be recorded from her today as well.
The magistrate had also ordered the CID officers to submit a report containing the medical records of the said employee.
The embassy employee had arrived at the CID escorted by Swiss Embassy officials around 5 last evening. She was also produced before the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer for a medical examination yesterday.
Officers attached to the CID commenced investigations pertaining to the incident after a written complaint over the matter was lodged by an officer attached to the Switzerland Embassy.
