Sri Lanka head coach Mickey Arthur says the tour of West Indies will be an opportunity for several young players to cement their place in the team.
Speaking to media before departing for the full tour of West Indies this morning, head coach Arthur said few players missed out due to injuries and owing to COVID-19 and that has opened doors for others to stake their claims.
Mickey Arthur said despite the forced changes, he has full faith in the squad led by Dimuth Karunaratne.
He backed the players to perform exceptionally in West Indies since it’s a World Cup year.
The national white-ball squad left for the West Indies this morning to play a full-tour.
A 20-man squad was named for the tour of West Indies with Dimuth Karunaratne leading the ODI team and Dasun Shanaka as the skipper of the T20 set-up.
During the West Indies tour, Sri Lanka will play three T20Is, three one day Internationals and two Test matches, under a bio-secure environment from the 3rd of March.
