1,530 COVID-19 PCR tests conducted yesterday

1,530 PCR tests were conducted in the country yesterday to identify coronavirus cases.

270,881 PCR tests have been conducted in the island since February.

Meanwhile, another 162 persons who complete coronavirus quarantine will be released today.

The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 said the individuals will be released from centres in Boossa, Periyakadu, Pelwehera, Negombo and Rajagiriya.

Accordingly, 43,895 persons have thus far completed mandatory coronavirus quarantine measures while another 7,120 remain at 68 Tri-Forces maintained quarantine centres.

Meanwhile, 42 persons, stranded owing to coronavirus travel restrictions, arrived in the island this morning from Doha, Qatar.

Another individual arrived in the island from Mumbai, India.

The 43 individuals underwent PCR tests and were directed to quarantine centres.
