2021 Budget extension of failed Budgets-AKD

Leader of the National People’s Power Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the country’s economy is faced with many obstacles.

Joining the debate on the second reading of the Budget proposal MP Dissanayake said the 2021 Budget is an extension of failed Budget proposals over the years.

The MP said five main industries have been affected at present claiming that the COVID-19 pandemic has made the prevalent situation worse.

He noted that manufacturing and production industries has been severely impacted.

MP Dissanayake said Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has tabled 11 Budget proposals as the Finance Minister, State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal was Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for ten years while PB Jayasundara, the current Secretary to the President, served as the Finance Ministry Secretary for ten years, pointing out that the 2021 Budget has been compiled by this group.
