221 arrested for violating curfew regulations

Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana says 221 individuals have been arrested during the past 24 hours ending at 6am today, for violating curfew regulations, making it the highest number of arrests made thus far since the 4th of October.

The Acting Police Media Spokesman said 40 vehicles have also been impounded.

He noted that curfew is currently in effect in 117 Police areas across the country.

The DIG said restrictions will be in place for all individual excluding, essential workers.

He assured that legal action will be taken against anyone who violates curfew regulations.

DIG Ajith Rohana said they hope to produce the arrested individuals in Court, in the coming days.
