3 arrested with 231kg of heroin further remanded

The two suspects arrested for the possession of 231kg of heroin in seas off Beruwala and the owner of the trawler who was named as the chief suspect in the case, have been further remanded till the 25th of January.
The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.
The stock of heroin is valued at more than Rs.2.7 billion.
Police arrested two suspects initially with the stock of heroin on the 6th of December.
Upon investigations Police later arrested the chief suspect in connection to the smuggling of the drugs, who is also the owner of the trawler that was used in transporting the heroin.
