3 officers killed in Dematagoda explosion promoted

The Inspector General of Police has issued directives to promote three police officers who were killed during two explosions reported in Dematagoda yesterday.

Police officers were killed while inspecting a residence reportedly housing a group of suspects involved in the Easter Sunday attacks.

Accordingly, the Sub Inspector of Police who was killed in the explosions has been posthumously promoted to the rank of Police Inspector.

The Police Media Unit added that two constables who died in the incident have been posthumously promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

The three officers were attached to the Colombo Crimes Division.
