309 COVID-19 cases detected today

Another 309 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in Sri Lanka thus far today, bringing the total number of cases recorded in the island to 49,846.
Accordingly the number of active coronavirus patients undergoing medical care has risen to 6,335.
Meanwhile another 646 people who contracted COVID-19 recovered and were discharged from hospitals today, raising total recoveries recorded thus far in the island to 43,267.
The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said among persons discharged from medical care, 93 were discharged from the Punani Treatment Centre, 90 from the Bingiriya Treatment Centre, 47 from the Karadiyanaru District Hospital, 39 from the Panideniya Treatment Centre and 34 from the Polgolla Treatment Centre.
Accordingly 6,335 active cases, including one foreign national, are presently undergoing medical treatment for coronavirus at treatment facilities across the island.
Meanwhile 653 individuals are currently under observation on suspicions of having contracted COVID-19.
