Sri Lanka crossed 81,000 COVID-19 cases yesterday with the detection of 492 new patients.

477 individuals were identified from within the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster while 15 positive cases were also identified from prisons.

Total infections in the country accordingly rose to 81,009.

732 individuals recovered from COVID-19 and were discharged raising total recoveries to 75,842 during the past 24-hours.

4,714 persons are currently being treated for COVID-19 while 559 individuals suspected of having contracted the virus are under medical observation.
