7 arrested Indian fishermen remanded

7 Indian fishermen who were arrested for illegally poaching in Northern waters within Sri Lanka’s maritime boundary lines have been remanded until the 22nd of August.
The order was issued by the Jaffna Magistrates Court.
The fishermen aged between 18 and 47 were apprehended by the Navy on Monday.
The group of Indian nationals were handed over to the Jaffna Assistant Director of Fisheries following medical checkups.
Meanwhile 4 fishermen have been arrested by the Navy for engaging in illegal fishing in seas off the coast of Karainagar.
The group will be produced before the Jaffna Magistrate tomorrow for legal action.
