7 served indictments over Ekneligoda abduction

The Attorney General has served indictments on seven persons over the abduction of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda in the year 2009.

The Coordinating Officer of the Department of the Attorney General Nishara Jayaratne confirmed that indictments were severed on the seven intelligence unit officials including Lieutenant Colonel Shammi Karunaratne and Lieutenant Colonel Prabodha Siriwardene.

The abduction was reported on the 27th of August 2009. NewsRadio Court correspondent said the seven are charged with conspiring and aiding and abetting in the kidnapping of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda.

The indictments were served before the Homagama Provincial High Court today.
