86 arrested in 24 hours for violating curfew

The number of persons arrested for violating quarantine curfew has increased to 388.
Acting Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said a total of 58 vehicles including 40 motorbikes and 12 three-wheelers were also seized by Police.
DIG Rohana since the imposition of curfew on the 4th of October, the highest number of persons were arrested during the 24-hour period which ended at 6am today.
He added 86 individuals were arrested during the past 24 hours.
Police requested the public to wear face masks and maintain social distancing, even in areas in which curfew has not been imposed.
He noted facilities must be provided by supermarkets, offices and other organizations to wash hands and check the body temperature at the entrance of the relevant organization.
He claims such measures are mandatory under quarantine regulations.
