9 arrested in Wellampitiya remanded

The nine suspects arrested in Wellampitiya over yesterday’s attacks have been remanded till the 6th of May.

The order was issued by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Saliya Channa Abeyrathne this afternoon.

NewsRadio Court correspondent said, during the hearing the Wellampitiya Police revealed that the nine suspects were employed at a factory owned by one of the suicide bombers responsible for the Shangri-La attack.

The bomber, the woman and child found dead at a residence in Dematagoda, where a blast was reported yesterday, have been identified as the suicide bombers wife and sister.

The nine suspects were employed at a factory owned by the suicide bomber and investigations are underway to determine whether the bombs were manufactured at the factory.

Police are also investigating the relationship between the nine suspects and the others arrested in connection to the bombings.
