AG authorises to ban 11 groups including Al-Qaeda & ISIS

The Attorney General has authorised to proscribe 11 Islamic Organisations including the Al -Qaeda and Islamic State group in relation to extremist activities.
Coordinating Officer of the Attorney General State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said the recommendations were issued following investigations.
Accordingly, the Attorney General has recommended to the proscribe the United Thawheed Jama’ath, the Ceylon Thawheed Jama’ath, the Sri Lanka Thawheed Jama’ath and the All Ceylon Thawheed Jama’ath organisations.
Furthermore, the Attorney General has authorised to proscribe the Jamiyathul Ansari Sunnat Al Mohammadia, Dharul Adhar @ Janiul Adhar, the Sri Lanka Islamic Student Movement, the Save the Pearls organisation and the Super Muslims group over its links to extremist activities.
