Minuwangoda cluster: 47 more cases identified

Another 47 persons linked to the Minuwangoda cluster have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Department of Government Information said four persons were detected from quarantine centres while another 43 individuals have been identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda cluster.

Accordingly, the Minuwangoda COVID-19 cluster which emerged on the 4th of October has increased to 2,122. Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus infections confirmed in the country has risen to 5,585.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 2,169 persons including 16 foreign nationals are currently receiving medical treatment for coronavirus at 19 hospitals across the country.

306 suspected cases are also under medical observation.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 recoveries in Sri Lanka is at 3,403 after five more persons were discharged from hospitals yesterday.
