Minister Arjuna Ranatunga says he is not content with the Sri Lanka squad named for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Speaking to media in Kadawatha the Minister who was also the former 1996 World Cup winning Skipper said the decision to exclude an experienced player such as Dinesh Chandimal was a cause for concern.

The Minister said he was not pleased with the selection, especially since it’s a World Cup and explained that there will be many shortcomings if inexperienced players are fielded.

The Minister optimistically however pointed out that newcomers will also be given an opportunity.

He further highlighted significant negatives in Sri Lanka’s performance over the past years adding a large void has been created due to less experienced players.

Speaking on the exclusion of  Dinesh Chandimal, the Minister said he should have been a part of the team.
