Begging in trains banned from today

The law that prohibits begging on trains will be enforced strictly from today.

Speaking to NewsRadio, State Minister of Railway Services CB Rathnayake said the law will be strictly enforced following a recent pledge by the government.

State Minister Rathnayake said the government intends on providing an efficient service to railway users through this move.

He said it is his duty to provide an efficient service to the public and to remove all inconveniences faced by commuters.

Therefore, the State Minister said they will implement this law that prohibits begging on trains from today.

He noted that in the event of any legal obstacles in removing beggars, they will present further amendments to existing regulations.

The State Minister said the government seeks to provide an efficient and a timely service.
