Colombo confirms 480 new COVID-19 cases

A significant rise in COVID-19 cases has been reported from the Colombo District yesterday.

The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said among the 843 individuals who tested positive for the coronavirus yesterday, 480 were confirmed from the Colombo District.

29 cases each were reported from Narahenpita, Mount Lavinia and Wellampitiya, 22 cases in Wellawatte, and 21 each from Cinnamon Gardens and Gothatuwa.

The Centre said 86 individuals tested positive from Gampaha, 72 from Kalutara, 40 from Galle and 35 persons from Kandy.

17 new coronavirus cases were reported from Matara, 16 from Ampara, 14 from Puttalam, 13 from Trincomalee and 12 from Ratnapura. Badulla meanwhile recorded nine cases, eights infections were reported from Polonnaruwa, six from Kegalle and Vavuniya, five from Matale and four cases in Kurunegala and Monaragala.

Two new cases each were reported from Nuwara-Eliya, Hambantota, Anuradhapura, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Jaffna including two arrivals while one case each was identified from Mullaitivu and Batticaloa.
