COVID-19 cases rise to 5,625; 47 more confirmed

The number of coronavirus cases recorded in the country has risen to 5,625 with another 47 persons linked to the Minuwangoda cluster testing positive.

The Department of Government Information said 21 individuals were identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda cluster and 19 persons were detected from quarantine centres.

Accordingly, the Minuwangoda COVID-19 cluster increases to 2,162.

The Government Information Department 87 new cases were identified today alone, all linked to the Minuwangoda cluster.

37 persons were discharged today after recovering from the coronavirus increasing recoveries to 3,440.

Accordingly, 2,172 persons including 16 foreign nationals are currently receiving medical treatment for the coronavirus at 20 hospitals across the country.

297 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation.
