COVID-19 death toll in Sri Lanka rises to 73

Another four Coronavirus linked fatalities were recorded in Sri Lanka yesterday, accordingly raising the death toll from the virus to 73.

The first fatality recorded yesterday was a 70 year old male from Colombo 10, who had passed away following admission to a private hospital.

He had passed away of Pneumonia caused by COVID-19. Meanwhile a 27 year old female, a resident of Colombo 15 had also passed away.

The individual who had been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, was transferred to the Mulleriyawa Base Hospital after testing positive for the virus.

The 27 year old had passed away due to liver disease exacerbated by COVID-19 infection. Moreover the death of a 59 year old female resident of Pokunuwita, Horana was also recorded yesterday.

The individual had passed away at her residence from respiratory complications and high blood pressure exacerbated by coronavirus.

Finally the 4th fatality reported yesterday was an 86 year old male, a resident of Halthota, Kalutara.

He had also passed away at his residence from respiratory complications owing to coronavirus infection.
