9 COVID deaths recorded; death toll up to 83

Nine coronavirus related deaths were reported yesterday increasing the death toll in Sri Lanka to 83.
The Government Information Department said the first visit was identified as a 57-year-old male, a resident of Colombo 2, who passed away at the Colombo National Hospital with pneumonia caused by COVID-19 infection.
The second victim was identified as a 65-year-old male from Wellampitiya who died owing high blood pressure, diabetes and COVID-19 infection while at the Colombo National Hospital.
The third COVID-19 victim also passed away at the Colombo National Hospital.
He was identified as an 89-year-old male with the cause of death determined as coronavirus pneumonia.
Another individual, a 48-year-old female passed away at her residence in Colombo 10 as a result of diabetes, high blood pressure and COVID-19 infection that resulted in a heart attack.
Meanwhile the sixth COVID-19 death was that of a 69-year-old female from Colombo 13, who passed away owing to a heart attack caused by COVID-19 while at her residence.
Furthermore, a 76-year-old a resident of Wellawatte passed away owing to pneumonia aggravated by COVID-19.
He was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital and was transferred to the Colombo East Base Hospital after being identified as a COVID-19 positive patient where he passed away.
The Government Information Department said the eighth coronavirus visit was a 75-year-old female of Wellampitiya who also succumbed to pneumonia exacerbated by COVID-19.
She was initially admitted to the Colombo National Hospital and was transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital after testing positive for the coronavirus.
The ninth COVID-19 case, a 76-year-old female succumbed to the virus at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases as a result of pneumonia and blood poisoning.
