COVID19 cases in all 25 Districts yesterday

The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak says new COVID-19 cases were detected from all 25 Districts in the country yesterday.

A total of 887 coronavirus cases were identified yesterday, the highest caseload detected in a single day thus far since the beginning of the spread of the epidemic in Sri Lanka.

Of the number, the highest tally of cases identified from a single district, was recorded from Colombo, with a total of 337 new patients.

Among coronavirus cases identified in the Colombo District, 48 cases were recorded from Colombo Fort, 32 in Mount Lavinia, 29 in Maradana, 24 in Mattakkuliya and 21 in Piliyandala.

Meanwhile 136 tested positive in Gampaha, 71 from Kalutara, 51 from Matale, 49 from Kandy, 47 from Galle, 33 from Kurunegala, 29 from Ampara and 25 from Ratnapura.

Furthermore 21 COVID-19 infections were recorded from Polonnaruwa, 19 from Matara, 11 from Batticaloa, seven from Anuradhapura and six each from Kilinochchi and Trincomalee.

Additionally four patients each were recorded from Kegalle and Vavuniya, three each from Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Puttalam, and Monaragala, three from Badulla and one case each from Nuwara-Eliya, Hambantota and Mannar.

14 overseas arrivals also tested positive for the virus yesterday.
