Curfew in Colombo Fort, Pettah, Borella, Welikada

Quarantine curfew will be imposed in the Colombo Fort, Pettah, Borella and Welikada Police areas from 6pm today.
The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said curfew will be imposed in these areas until further notice.
Quarantine curfew is currently in place in 56 Police areas in four districts in addition to the newly announced Police areas. Curfew has been imposed in 33 Police areas in the Gampaha district, 19 in the Colombo district, five in the Kurunegala district and three Police areas in the Kalutara district.
Curfew in the Colombo district is in effect in Maligawatta, Keselwatta, Dam Street, Wolfendhal Street, Foreshore, Dematagoda, Maradana, Kotahena, Mattakkuliya, Mutwal, Bloemendhal, Wellampitiya, Grandpass, Mulleriyawa and Gothatuwa.
The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said curfew was imposed as a precautionary measure and will remain in place until further notice.
Acting Police Media Spokesman Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana said vehicles will not be allowed to make stops in curfew-imposed areas. However, DIG said essential services will be able to operate unhindered.
He also requested the general public in curfew areas to remain indoors. Meanwhile, curfew in the Beruwala, Payagala and Aluthgama Police areas in the Kalutara district will be lifted at 5am tomorrow.
