Curfew in the Western Province from tomorrow

Quarantine curfew will be imposed in the Western Province from 12am and will be in place until 5am on Monday 2nd of November.

The Government Information Department said curfew is being imposed on the directives of the Director General of Health Services.

Curfew will accordingly be in place in the Western Province tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday and will be lifted at 5am on Monday.

The Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said quarantine curfew imposed in the Gampaha district, 21 Police areas in the Colombo district and five Police areas each in the Kalutara and the Kurunegala districts will remain in place indefinitely.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said stores selling essential items and pharmacies in the Western Province will be allowed to open between 8am and 10pm today adding that no restrictions have been imposed to those involved in essential duties.

The Army Commander added Police will facilitate the movement of those involved in essential services such as health sector workers.

The Army Commander also requested all persons to limit movement irrespective of the area of residence.
