Election monitoring body the Center for Monitoring Election Violence says electoral laws have been violated with the government’s decision to deploy graduates, who were granted job opportunities by the government recently, being deployed for curfew duty including the issuance of curfew passes.

National Coordinator Manjula Gajanayake said the Election Commission must probe the matter by respective officials.

He stressed that if anyone attempted to hand out appointments in such a manner, it was clearly a violation of election laws.

Gajanayake said the Election Commission will then be able to question such officials on their actions, as it is a clear violation.

He charged that false reasons are being created to give out such appointments, in order to gain an unfair advantage in the upcoming Parliamentary Election.
