Samagi Jana Balawegaya National List Parliamentarian Diana Gamage, who voted in favour of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution yesterday, explained her decision behind the move.

The MP said she will pledge support to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s future journey.

She said she voted in favour by putting the country first.

Referring to Brutus stabbing Julius Caesar, the MP said Brutus was accused by many of betraying the King, and said he responded by saying he loved Caesar, but loved the country more.

MP Gamage noted that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa during his term as Defence Secretary fulfilled many duties to the country including development projects.

The MP said while disciplinary action could be taken against her, she said she is prepared to face anything that comes her way and will unwaveringly support President Rajapaksa.
