Eheliyagoda COVID positive woman still at large

Police is seeking support from the general public to track the woman who escaped from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) on Thursday with her child while receiving treatment for COVID-19.
Police said the woman, a resident of Eheliyagoda, tested positive for coronavirus and was undergoing treatment at Ward 4 of the IDH, when she escaped the hospital with her son on Thursday.
Acting Police Media Spokesperson Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana said the son of the 25-year-old woman, has now been handed over to the father, adding the child has been directed to undergo medical treatment, on the advice of health authorities.
However, DIG Rohana stressed as the woman has tested positive for COVID-19 and has the potential to spread the virus further, anyone who has any information about her must contact the Police Headquarters on 011 242 1111, the Colombo Emergency Hotline on 011 243 3333, or the Eheliyagoda Police Station.
The Acting Police Media Spokesman said the public may also contact the 119-hotline number to report any information about the woman in question stressing she is in need of treatment.
