Gamini Senarath’s case: Evidence hearing ends

The evidence hearing in the case filed against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath for allegedly misappropriating 500 million rupees, concluded today.
The case filed against Gamini Senarath was heard before the Permanent High Court at bar.
The four accused, including Gamini Senarath are charged with illegally transferring 500 million rupees from Litro Gas to a private entity.
The accused have been charged under the Penal Code, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and the Public Property Act.
Indictments were served on the group after the Attorney General filed charges for malpractices reportedly committed between February 1, 2014 and January 20, 2015.
The case is scheduled to be taken up for hearing once again on the 22nd of February.
