Geeganage Kulathissa further remanded

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Colombo Municipal Councillor Geeganage Kulathissa who was arrested for his involvement in the unrest at the premises of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation in Dematagoda on the 28th of October, last year has been further remanded.
The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne this morning.
The Councillor was further remanded till the 18th of January.
NewsRadio Court correspondent said the bail application filed by the suspect was rejected during today’s hearing.
The Colombo Crimes Division arrested Councillor Geeganage Kulathissa for allegedly being a part of a group that assaulted Minister Arjuna Ranatunga.
The then Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Arjuna Ranatunga came under an attack by a mob at the CPC premises, following the October 2018 transformation.
The violent incidents resulted in one person being shot and killed while an officer attached to Minister Ranathunga’s security detail was arrested over the death.
The Podujana Peramuna Councillor is also alleged to have been a part of the assault.
