Gota’s appeal against museum case dismissed

The Supreme Court today dismissed an appeal filed by former Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa against the hearing of the DA Rajapaksa museum case at the Special Permanent High Court-at-bar.
NewsRadio Court correspondent said the decision was pronounced by a five-member Supreme Court bench.
A case has been filed before the Permanent High Court-at-Bar against Rajapaksa and six others over the misappropriation of Rs.33.9 million in state funds for the construction of the DA Rajapaksa Museum in Weeraketiya.
The case is due to be heard from the 15th of October at the Permanent High Court.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa moved the motion claiming that the charge sheet filed at the Permanent High Court were erroneous.
The appeal was dismissed on a majority decision by a bench that comprised of Justices Sisira De Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardana, Prasanna Jayawardana, Vijith Malalgoda and LTB Dehideniya.
