The Permanent High Court at Bar has issued a warning to Former Secretary of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to be present in Court on time in future.
This was conveyed when the case related to the DA Weeraketiya Rajapakasa Museaum was taken up for hearing today.
The warning was issued as Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had arrived before Court late. His attorneys informed the judges that their client was delayed due to the traffic congestion.
The State’s Deputy Solicitor General Dilip Peries requested Court to inform the defenadnts to be present in Court at the said times.
The three judges had then issued the warning and advised the former Defence Secretary to be present for hearings on time.
Meanwhile the Court of Appeal today rejected the preliminary objection filed by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa challenging the jurisdiction of the Special High Court to hear a case filed against him.
Charges were filed against seven persons for misappropriating public funds during the tenure of the UPFA-led government for the construction of the DA Rajapaksa Museum in Weeraketiya.
