‘Government focused on development initiatives’

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the government is engaged in development efforts, ignoring political displays and acts of intimidation.
Speaking during an event in Kochchikade Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said the country’s current account, has recorded a surplus for the first time since the year 1950 through the 2019 Budget.
The Premier noted if the 51 day coup did not take place the government could have increased the surplus of the current account.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe stressed the Board of Investment received $2000 million in 2018.
The Premier claimed the public has been able to enjoy benefits as a result of development projects initiated by the government.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also said the government was able to increase salaries in line with development projects.
