The Samagi Jana Balawegaya has accused government members and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa of making contradictory statements over the East Terminal of the Colombo Port.
Speaking at a media briefing today, MP Kavinda Jayawardene said it was contradictory that the President promised to not sell the port, while the Subject Minister is of the view that 49% stake would be granted to an Indian entity.
He stressed the government is maintaining double standards claiming the then opposition protested when the Hambantota Port was given out on a 99-year lease, and is today selling the Colombo Port.
The Parliamentarian requested the government to refrain from deceiving the public and to maintain consistency.
