Half of yesterday’s COVID cases from Colombo

More than half of the 337 new COVID-19 cases detected yesterday were identified from the Colombo district.
189 cases were detected from the Colombo district including from Kirulapone, Wellawatta, Cinnamon Gardens and Mirihana.
47 cases were identified from the Gampaha district while 11 cases each were identified from the Puttalam and Nuwara Eliya districts and eight cases were detected from the Kandy District.
Six cases each were also identified from the Kalutara and Kurunegala districts while two COVID-19 patients were detected from the Ratnapura district and one patient each from the Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Galle and Kilinochchi districts.
Meanwhile, another 33 Police officers also tested positive for the virus yesterday.
The group includes 20 Police officers and 13 Special Task Force personnel. Two overseas arrivals were also among yesterday’s cases.
