Hatton Town isolated for fourth consecutive day

The Hatton Town has been declared an isolated area with disinfection carried out for the fourth consecutive day after directing 11 individuals who returned positive PCR tests to treatment facilities.

Public Health Inspectors of Ambagamuwa have directed 345 area residents to self-isolate, while 50 individuals have been directed to undergo PCR tests yesterday.

It was earlier identified that certain individuals in Hatton has contracted the virus from contacts of positive cases at the Peliyagoda fish market, while other positive cases were identified in Bogawantalawa, Maskeliya, Kotagala, Talawakelle, Agrapatana, Pundaluoya and Hanguranketha.

Furthermore, the Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Rohana Pushpakumara informed the public to refrain from visiting Nuwara-Eliya during the weekend and in the days ahead.

Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Engineers Corps has been temporarily moved to operate from within the Hatton, Sripada National College of Education after four individuals tested positive for the virus.

During this time, the Army base will be disinfected.

Planters within the Hatton area stated that tea plucking activities will commence under maximum safety measures, despite being declared an isolated zone.
