The government has decided to include health as a compulsory subject in the Ordinary Level Examination from 2022.
Speaking during a media briefing at the Government Information Department Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senarathne said the government aims to provide students a wide knowledge on the subject through this initiative.
The Minister noted the proposal to include health as a compulsory subject in the Ordinary Level Examination was approved by the National Institute of Education.
Minister Senarathne stressed even though students were previously granted an option to choose health as a subject for their Ordinary Level Examination it did not deliver the expected results.
Accordingly the Minister claimed it will be mandatory for Ordinary Level students to sit for the Health Paper from 2022.
