The Public Health Inspectors Union of Sri Lanka says in order to control the spread of COVID-19, the results of PCR tests must be issued rapidly.

Balasuriya said nearly 300 cases have been reported daily over the last several days, adding therefore the results of several PCR tests are yet to be released.
He noted therefore that more coronavirus positive patients may be identified from across the island in the days to come.
The PHI Union Secretary said as several areas have been identified as red zones for the heightened risk of the spread of the virus, accordingly a decision was reached imposed curfew across the Western Province.
Pertaining to a lack of PHIs in Colombo he said around 210 have been deployed on duty, however noted the number is low when considering the districts population.
