Johnston files revision bail application

United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Johnston Fernando, who was implicated in a financial misappropriation case, has filed a revision bail application before the Court of Appeal.
Former Minister of Internal Trade Johnston Fernando and two others are currently in remand custody over alleged financial misappropriation amounting to 5.2 million rupees at Sathosa during the last North Western Provincial Council Election.
NewsRadio Court correspondent said the two-judge bench today considered the bail application and decided to announce the verdict on the appeal next Monday.
The revision bail application was taken up before Appeals Court Justices Achala Wengappuli and Janak De Silva.
The Kurunegala High Court yesterday further remanded Parliamentarian Johnston Fernando and two others until the conclusion of the hearing of a case filed over financial misappropriation at Sathosa during the last North-Western Provincial Council election.
Former Sathosa Chairman Nalin Fernando and former private secretary of Parliamentarian Fernando, Mohamed Sakeer were also remanded.
