The final report pertaining to the reasons behind the collapse of the five-storey building in Buwelikada, Kandy claims it occurred due to improper construction standards.
A senior official of the National Building Research Organisation speaking to NewsRadio said the collapse did not occur due to a landslide.
The final report on the incident was handed over to the Governor of the Central Province Lalith U Gamage.
The official quoted the report saying the foundation of the building was not strong enough to withstand the load of five floors.
The five-storey building collapsed at dawn on the 20th of September claiming the lives of a one-and-a-half-month-old infant and her parents.
The owner of the building was arrested by Police, and is currently in remand custody.
