The JVP says the government will pen the Millennium Challenge Corporation agreement as soon as the General Election concludes.

Party Chief Secretary Tilvin Silva speaking at a rally in Galle yesterday said the government that claimed the MCC agreement will be torn up after the Presidential Election, is presently studying its contents.

He said the then Opposition made a ruckus over the MCC grant citing that it should be burnt as it threatens the country’s sovereignty.

Silva accused the government of now working towards amending the shortcomings of the agreement.

He noted that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the nation called for the public to consider the bigger picture.

The JVP Chief Secretary urged the public to consider the smaller details that contribute to the bigger picture that the Prime Minister speaks of.
