More than 15,000 persons recover from COVID-19

More than 15,000 persons have now recovered from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka.
The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 485 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals during the past 24 hours.
Accordingly, the number of COVID-19 recoveries in Sri Lanka has increased to 15,447.
125 persons were discharged from the Punani treatment centre, 90 from the Kopai treatment centre, 33 from the Padiyathalawa district hospital while 30 individuals were released from the Kahawatta treatment centre during the past 24 hours.
The number of coronavirus cases confirmed in Sri Lanka increased to 20,967 following the detection of 459 COVID-19 patients yesterday.
5,426 COVID-19 patients including 11 foreign nationals are currently receiving treatment in hospitals across the island. 577 suspected cases remain under medical observation.
Four deaths were also reported in the country within the past 24 hours.
