The opposition says the government will not be able to fulfil its pledges despite projecting significant growth during the year 2021.

Speaking during the 2021 Budget debate, MP Hector Appuhamy said the government will not be able to obtain loans next year to provide concessions to the public.

Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the present administration will fulfil its promises through a methodical programme.

Meanwhile, Parliamentarian Kabir Hashim said the present government has been unable to initiate any fruitful programmes for the benefit of the people.

Minister Wimal Weerawansa rejected the claims made by Opposition MPs and asserted the government has been successful in running the country during the past year.
